12/15 Brady Basner: Powermaster

Have you added a state of the art sound system to that hot rod or custom of yours, maybe some high output headlights, maybe power widows, or maybe an air conditioning unit? If you have, you might have exceeded the output of that stock alternator of yours. Maybe you jacked up the compression on that old mill you’re running under the hood. That high compression engine fires just fine when it’s cold but starting it after its run for a while, that usually begins with a short prayer. Could be you’ve exceeded the torque of your stock starter. Whatever the case, join us this week “In The Garage” because we are going to talk about an American made icon in automotive performance starters and generators. We will be talking with Brady Basner of Powermaster. If you want to keep plenty of spark to your plugs and get maximum torque from your starter then join us. You’ll find out what makes a performance starter and alternator perform just like the rest of your dream ride.

Mike Lavallee, Killer Paint: Renowned for his TRUE FIREtm airbrush technique which has revitalized the automotive art industry, the artist, Mike Lavallee, traces his roots to sign painting. Graduating with a degree in Sign Painting from Boston's Butera Art School in 1979, he would not work exclusively on bikes until after attending his first rally in Laconia, New Hampshire. It would become weekend event that would permanently change his life. It sparked what would eventually become a lifelong endeavor. Immersing himself in a decades long trek he would travel the motorcycle circuit as an artist until choosing to settle in the Pacific Northwest. In 1999 he opened his airbrush studio, Killer Paint, in Snohomish, Washington.

03/10- Eric Saltrick, Mike Lavallee, Pat St. Mary

Eric Saltrick VP of Marketing, Steele Rubber Products: From a small business to the international company that Steele Rubber Products is today, we have not forgotten our roots. Today, we still use Lynn Steele's proven method of manufacturing parts by hand, and developing new parts by using only originals and detailed research. In addition, we haven't forgotten that our company was founded because we love cars. Therefore, you will still find Steele at swap meets, car shows, and local events around the country. However, we no longer have the station wagon. We now travel the country in a 40 ft. hauler, selling parts directly from our rolling warehouse and meeting our customers face-to-face.
Since those first rubber parts, Steele’s technicians have designed thousands of replacement rubber parts from customers’ original seals. Every detail is scrutinized to make sure each part is an exact replica to the original and fits perfectly. Our goal is simple: to produce the world’s largest inventory of dependable and quality rubber parts for classic cars, trucks, muscle cars, and street rods. Steele believes it is less costly for our customers to “do it right the first time” than to buy inferior products that won’t stand up over time or meet their high expectations.

02/04- Brad Lagman QMP Racing Engines

QMP racing engines was established in 2000 by Brad Lagman. Brad has over 18 years of knowledge and has been building engines since 1987. In 2000 Brad Lagman started QMP out of his garage. With limited equipment and having to rely on others for machine work progress began to show. Additionally, things began to get busy and with four people working in only 400sq. ft. of space it was time to expand.

By 2003 along with Mike Consolo, they opened an 1800sq. ft. shop in Chatsworth, California. QMP realized the only way to succeed was to have the ability to perform all of their work in house. The shop is filled with numerous amounts of tools and machinery for every type of operation. Much of the machinery has all of the latest technology. For example, the Flow Bench, Valve Spring Tester, Balancer and Cam Doctor are all computerized. The ability to have a large amount of the machinery computerized has afforded QMP the ability to process information more efficiently. Not only is much of the equipment computerized but QMP also makes use of exclusive techniques in the development process of machining. These kinds of methods are utilized during bore honing, valve jobs and during balancing. By 2005, QMP had expanded once again. The shop obtained the facility next door and doubled in size. It was now at a total of 3600sq.ft.

With the increase of space came the need to accommodate another employee. So, Pete Adams came aboard to run QMP's balance shop. This ability to balance cranks and any other rotating parts is essential to remaining productive and "in-house". QMP provides first hand knowledge of the parts they sell. For example, Brad Lagman stated, "we practice what we preach". This statement reigns true because of Brad's extensive engine building experience. QMP wouldn't promote or sell a product if they were not completely satisfied with it. What's not good for QMP isn't good for you. Mike Consolo's philosophy is, "when you buy our parts you are buying a piece of our knowledge". Combining the years of skill and know how between Brad, Mike and Pete is priceless.

However, they know what works and what doesn't. QMP has sorted out all the guess work so you don't have to. QMP is dedicated to serving the racing community with quality parts and service. QMP can help you with all your engine requirements, parts, machine work and even technical advice. Currently QMP is building a Pro-Street Monte Carlo, Hot Street Nova, and a 2003 Camaro. All will be racing at NMCA, NHRA, PSCA and other ASST race events.
